The brief to create a book/zine presenting something of interest to you.

I knew very early on in this brief I wanted to physically make my own book from a paper structure. 

Book binding was something I had never done but I have always enjoyed manipulating paper.

Finding a narrative I have always enjoyed constellations, the night sky , zodiacs , symbolism, this seemed a great narrative to explore giving me scope to illustrate the pages in an original way .

Due to Covid I had little choice but to teach myself book binding, I did this through YouTube & various paper folding books. 

I have since taken a workshop through my foundation course in book binding.

The outcome a bound book using a card structure & Japanese stitching  encasing mixed media illustrated pages , each page relating to one star sign

.Mediums used in illustration, embroidery, gilding , fine liner & various paper products. The front cover includes homemade paper.
